What’s up, co-op? Over the years I have had one item sitting on my desk at work every day. It was a gift from a credit union CEO on my first day going into work at his shop, a 10-ounce bar of sterling silver stamped 999+ (pure).
The message that I received with the bar was a simple one: “Keep it in a prominent spot on your desk every day as a simple reminder of the work to expect from yourself. The day that you feel you can’t give me the 999+, take the bar and move on to a place that you feel you can do that for your new employer and yourself.”
This bar has traveled across a few desks over many years, been rolled in my hands hundreds of times and has always been a great reminder for me as I approach each new day. What is that internal or external driver that offers you those daily reminders?
